The 2009 World Environment Day Festival promises a diverse and exciting program involving the community under an interactive umbrella of environmental awareness and action for our future.

Key elements of the World Environment Day Festival include:

    Come along and explore issues around farming the animals some of us eat!

    A number of speakers including representatives from Animal Liberation Queensland and the Vegan/Vegetarian Society will share their views and knowledge. The views of farmers with ‘better’ animal husbandry practices will also be included. This event aims to raise awareness about animal food sources with a focus on animal well-being.

    The topic will be explored from a number of angles such as ethics, capitalism and the market, legislation, and nutrition. You will also learn about the history of animal rights groups such as those represented and explore ‘alternatives’ such as kangaroo farming.
