Next meeting and a little news
The next meeting will be
Saturday 18th of August at 2pm
Senior Citizen's Room
Maleny Community Centre
Please send through any agenda items. As usual, this date and other significant events will be listed on our website.
Solar Hot Water Drive
The Solar Hot Water Drive has been a resounding success. 60 people signed up before the final deadline. That's only ONE short of the maximum discount. Still, it's enough to give all members access to a 30% discount on Solahart products for the next 6 months. Thanks to Solahart for handling things so openly and professionally. Note that there's also a new $1000 federal rebate that has just come in for some systems. Fortunately most of those who signed up for the Drive will be eligible. Watch for an update on the website soon.
Inspirational Letters
Some of you have forwarded the letters you've written Don Aldous to express your feelings about the Maleny Community Precinct. I plan to create a page on the website to display some of these for public inspiration. So if you write a letter, CC it to us. We can print it without your name if you prefer. By the way, if you haven't yet seen the alternative (non-golf) proposal for the Precinct, take a look at:

Amalgamation Petition
Also, some of you may be interested in the QLD Government E-Petition opposing the proposed council amalgamations. You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/2qooo2
IGA Community Benefit Club
The Sustainable Maleny Project is now a registered group in the IGA's Community Benefit Club! If some of us fill in the attached form, and write "Sustainable Maleny Project" as our chosen community group, a little trickle of funding will start to come our way. This will help us to cover our expenses, and in time perhaps even fund some positive actions to move our town towards ecological sustainability.
See you at the meeting!
Regards
Barry Earsman
