Retaining Maleny's Small Rural Town Character
The Obi Obi Campaign was conducted by the people of Maleny to protest against an inappropriately located supermarket in our town. We set up a campaign website which has recently been completely updated:

The Woolworths supermarket was the worst example of unsustainable behaviour in our town. Have a visit to find out the background to the campaign, and if you are new to Maleny, the issues behind the protest movement:
Ignoring our local planning scheme,
Destruction of habitat,
Introduction of large corporate chain store into our community,
Ignoring riverine protection legislation, and
Government collusion and acquiescence to big business over our town.
You can show your continued displeasure at Woolworths by:
Not shopping there,
Supporting our small business operators,
Buying organic and healthy food (and by growing your own), and
Picking up a yellow 'I Still Won't Shop There' sticker from the Maple St Co-op.
