Public meeting minutes - Sat 21st February 2009

The most recent public meeting of Sustainable Maleny was held in the usual place, Old Witta School on Saturday 21st February. The attendance numbers keep growing...this meeting we had 52 people present.

We had several community members present reports and event information.

  • Terri Bates introduced the community-building games nights to be held regularly at the Upfront Club (see events below). Bring along your favourite board game (or table-top game) with some friends and enjoy a fun evening with others doing the same thing. The first one is happening on Thursday 12th March with the event to happen regularly. So, come along!
  • We heard from Jeff Keys, who gave a report on the Climate Action Summit in Canberra, and suggested we hook in to the Climate Action email network.
  • Pete from food networking site Oooby (Out of your own backyard) gave us the story of his transformation from being part of the problem to part of the solution.
  • Robin Clayfield provided a round up of recent Transition Training events
  • We went through the list of project groups which were formed at last year's Transition Town Maleny workshops. Here's the list in all its glory. Some of these projects may flourish, others may lie dormant. It's up to us! If you're interested in being involved, give the relevant contact person a buzz.
  • Next meeting Saturday 21st March, Old Witta School, 9.15am for 9.30am start.
